A formal trouser is judged at the waist and the hem, and most of them are wrong in one of the two.

The waistband sits flat without gathering when seated, and the leg is cut to break cleanly over a shoe rather than pooling on it or stopping short at the ankle.

The waistband keeps its shape rather than stretching wider with wear, and the hem holds its length after washing rather than shrinking short.

Good for office wear, formal occasions, and men looking for formal pants that fit at the waist and hem.
